At the beginning of the semester, I walked into my thesis committee chair’s office with a plan. I had completed a ll of the required coursework and had submitted a thesis proposal form which had been approved. I was looking forward to spending the semester executing the plan. And the plan was this: create a physical document that would serve as a portfolio piece I could hand over to a prospective client. It would be in book form, self published, and would serve as a leave-behind at a face-to-face meeting.
an approved Include at the time of faculty review a reflective essay. This essay will recount the experience of designing and completing the portfolio, including a discussion of rhetorical choices made, attention to audience, projects revised specifically for inclusion in the portfolio, and the paces through which they were put. Student will also use this essay to direct faculty readers to aspects of the portfolio which the student feels warrant special attention. Upon acceptance (i.e., “passing”) the student will retain the reflective essay in the archival portfolio to be retained by the department, but remove it from the distributive portfolio to be presented to the field.
